My Facebook feed full of others’ traumas and fears says do not surrender. It is not safe.

My country, broken in two, says do not surrender. It is not safe.

My friends who have been oppressed say do not surrender. It is not safe.

But my heart. My heart says: dear one you must surrender. It is the only comfort there is.
